Organization

General Assembly: Every beginning of the year, hold with 2 representatives dispatched by each members, one Secretary General of KCLA21 and one public official in charge from the Ministry of Environment.

President Group: Consists of 16 representatives from 16 regional councils for LA21, of which one is selected as Standing President of KCLA21. Now Mr. Lee, Jin is selected as a Standing President for 2005.

Steering Committee: Composed of each individual of those in charge of actual affairs of 16 regional councils for LA21, the Secretary General of KCLA21 and one public official of the Ministry of Environment as an ex officio member, and 10 persons from local councils for LA21, and within 5 chiefs of department of local governments for each region who are commissioned by a resolution of ex officio members. The total number of member must be consisted of within 35.

Advisory Group: Classified Senior Advisory Group and Advisory Group. Senior Advisory Group consisted of eminent persons is nominated by the General Assembly upon recommendation of the Steering Committee. Advisory Group as an expert group is commissioned by the Standing President upon recommendation of the Steering Committee.

Special Committee for LA21 Institutionalization: Organized in Feb 13, 2004, when 2004 General Assembly, as a Task Force Team of Steering Committee, for Social Institutionalization of LA21 movement including the legalization of LA21 councils. Special Committee is composed of ‘LA21 Legalization Team’ and ‘LA21 Development & Strategy Team’.

Sustainable Ma-eul(Neighborhood) Sub-Committee: Established in May 2003 for implementing Agenda 21 at neighborhood level.

Watershed Agenda 21 Sub-Committee: Established in May 2004 for approaching the local water issue in terms of IWRM and implementing LA21 related water issues effectively.

Sustainable Education Sub-Committee: Established in March 2005 for sharing Environmental Education activities by Local Agenda 21 Councils and discussing ‘Education for Sustainable Development’.
