orean Council for Local Agenda 21(KCLA21) is an organization made by Promotional/Action Council for Local Agenda 21 of local governments in the country

on their own initiatives. Its activities are focused on supporting the creation of Local Agenda 21 of local governments and promotion of projects through communication on Local Agenda 21, joint cooperation and education and training. In addition, KCLA21 strives for the development of programs for activating Local Agenda 21 and the formation of system foundation by understanding and analyzing the current condition of promotion of Local Agenda 21 by local governments in the country. And, KCLA21 performs the activities to strengthen the potential for promotion of Local Agenda 21 through exchange information on good cases, PR activities and education for activists in the Promotional/Action Council for Local Agenda 21.
 

n the meantime, KCLA21 has operated various education and training programs such as National Conference for Local Agenda 21, Policy Forums, Women's Environment

Forums, Strategic Seminar for Sustainable Development in the 21th century, National Environmental Forum, etc. And it has found and distributed good cases by continuously monitoring the actual conditions of promotion of local agenda 21. Additionally, KCLA21 made every efforts in various fields so that Local Agenda 21 can be activated all over the country, including searching for the role of NCSD(National Commission on Sustainable Development) and the plan for constitution of LCSD(Local Commission on Sustainable Development), the plan for activation of Local Agenda 21 utilizing the residents' self-governing center, the promotion of 2002 World Cup, the activities in connection with ICLEI(The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives), the preparation for WSSD(World Summit on Sustainable Development), the development of evaluation indicator on the current status of promotion of Local Agenda 21 in Korea, or the like.

rom now on, as a facilitator of communication and cooperation among Promotional/
Action Council for Local Agenda 21 in the country, KCLA21 will establish an organic

relationship between the national and the local government, and between regional governments and local governments, activate Local Agenda 21 through the development of accurate evaluation index, solve obstacles, promote the introduction of LCSD, and execute the role of the center for linking domestic problems and global problems.
